Wood Moulding Trim From India on Stand - architectural salvage - Large (Ltrims31)

  • 6000

This solid wood trim section was at one time part of a door frame in a traditional home in India. The wood block features ornamental elements that were beautifully hand chiseled by a craftsmen. The original coloration mixed with the desert sun weathered wood has faded into a beautiful patina. The age is at least 50 years old. The wood has been mounted on a sturdy steel stand which is painted black and has a little rust markings that are in character with the piece. Type of wood is not determined, but would be either sheesham, mango, teak or haldu.

Makes a beautiful found art piece in a study or living room.

I found this ornamental moulding on a trip to the Indian desert state of Rajasthan where I work with people who specialize in recovering visually and historically interesting elements from homes and buildings that are torn down. I designed the steel stand and had it welded and assembled in a small metal workshop in Rasjasthan.

Dimensions of wood: 17" wide x 4.75" ht x 2" deep

Overall height on stand: 8.5"

Dimensions of the steel stand plate:  7" x 3" x 1/4" thick. The solid steel rod is 3/8" diameter.
