Beautiful vintage hand carved wood plinth once served as the base of a column in an Indian home. The wood block features geometric ornamental elements that were beautifully hand chiseled by a craftsmen. The age is at least 50 years old.
This is indoor/outdoor suitable. Perfect as an objet or for candles, place a sundial on it or serves as a planter for a garden pot.
We found this ornamental wood plinth on a trip to the Indian desert state of Rajasthan where I work with people who specialize in recovering visually and historically interesting elements from homes and buildings that are torn down. These are actual recovered wood pieces from old homes. They have been weathered by the elements and from regular home use. You'll see on one of the pictures that I show all 4 sides, so you can get a better idea as to the detailing and condition of the wood.
The wood used varies and may be seesham, teak or mango.
This is a one of a kind piece and has some beautiful detailing. There is a worn green patina to this base.
