SOLD
Beautiful vintage hand carved wood plinth once served as the base of a column in an Indian home. The wood block features ornamental elements that were beautifully hand chiseled by a craftsmen. The original blue coloration mixed with the desert sun weathered wood has faded into a beautiful patina. The age is at least 50 years old.

This is indoor/outdoor suitable. Perfect as an objet or for candles, place a sundial on it or serves as a stand for a garden pot.

We found this ornamental wood plinth on a trip to the Indian desert state of Rajasthan where I work with people who specialize in recovering visually and historically interesting elements from homes and buildings that are torn down. The city of Jodhpur where this piece came from is known as the "blue city" for all of the homes in the old part of town that have blue painted exterior walls. This piece features that blue color.

This is a one of a kind piece and has some beautiful detailing. You'll see on one of the pictures that I show all 4 sides, so you can get a better idea as to the detailing and condition of the wood.

Dimensions of wood:
8 1/2" x 9 5/8" x 5" height

Weight: 8 lbs.
